He won a Director's Scholarship and was trained in theatre by directing at Belgrade Theatre.
He directed a select few films, including an adaptation of Shakespeare's Twelfth Night in 1996.
He was married to actress Imogen Stubbs from 1994 until 2011.
He directed a revival of A Little Night Music starring Catherine Zeta Jones in 2009.
