ABOUT TSERING DOLMA GYALTONG
Spiritual leader who became recognized for reviving the Tibetan Women's Association.
She was born in Lhasa, Tibet.
In 1959, during the invasion of Tibet by China, she was said to be instrumental in the Dalai Lama's successful escape by demonstrating -- with her 500 supporters -- in the streets.
In 1972, she relocated with her husband and children to Toronto.
She once followed the Dalai Lama to India after both were exiled from Tibet.
