ABOUT V. S. ACHUTHANANDAN

Known for his membership in the Communist Party of India, this politician held office as Chief Minister of Kerala from 2006 until 2011. He later served as the 4th Chairman of the Kerala Administrative Reforms Commission for 5 years.

At the age of eleven, he was forced to drop out of school to support his family; he quickly involved himself in the organization of agricultural workers' unions in Kerala State.

During the 1980s and early 1990s, he served as the Secretary of State of Kerala. He passed away after turning 101 years old.

He married K. Vasumathy in 1967; the couple raised two children.

He played a key role in bringing corruption charges against former Kerala Minister R. Balakrishna Pillai .
