ABOUT VJ EDGECOMBE

Basketball player and Instagram star who gained a following while playing shooting guard for Long Island Lutheran Middle & High School.  After one amazing college season, he was drafted third overall by the Philadelphia 76ers in the 2025 NBA draft.

He and his family moved to the United States when he was in ninth grade.  He was a student at Victory International Institute in West Palm Beach, Florida, for two years.

He played in the 2024 McDonald's All-American Boys Game in his senior year, and he was listed as a five-star recruit in the 2024 class.  He eventually committed to play college basketball at Baylor after considering offers from Duke and Kentucky.  At Baylor, he was named the Big 12 Freshman of the Year, and he became the highest NBA draft pick in the history of Baylor basketball.

On the night of the NBA draft, both his mom and brother were overcome with joy during a live interview on ESPN.  His family and he talked about how they grew up with nothing.

He expressed excitement at joining the 76ers and playing alongside Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey .
