Director and cinematographer whose work was part of the collection of New York City's Museum of Modern Art.

He worked as an editor and producer for CNN while he was finishing his bachelor's degree in film.

He received numerous awards over the course of his career, including two Grand Jury Prizes from the Sundance Film Festival and a Peabody Award.

He was born in Lisbon.

He and Paul Greengrass were two of the world's most famous filmmakers of their time.
