ABOUT VATROSLAV MIMICA
Prominent Croatian filmmaker who became known for The Loner and other animated films.
He enrolled in medical school shortly before the start of World War II.
He became a prominent member of the Zagreb School of Animated Films. During the 1960s, he left the animated film industry behind and began to direct such feature films as Prometheus of the Island and Suleiman the Conqueror.
His son Sergio pursued a career as an American film and television director.
He and director Chris Wedge both created animated shorts.
