ABOUT VIKTOR ANATOLYEVICH BOUT

Russian arms dealer who is known as a weapons manufacturer and former Soviet military translator that used multiple of his companies to smuggle arms from Eastern Europe to Africa and the Middle East during the 1990s and early 2000s.

He became a Russian citizen in 1991.

In 2008, he was arrested in Thailand on terrorism charges by the Royal Thai Police in cooperation with American authorities and Interpol. He had served over 14 years in prison before his release in December 2022. His release was part of an exchange for WNBA star Brittney Griner , who was being detained in Russia on drug possession.

He is the son of Raisa Bout. He has an older brother named Sergei Bout. In 1992, he got married to Alla Bout.

He and Eric Harris are both criminals.
