Director of Emmy-winning TV shows such as Gunsmoke and Star Trek as well as Disney films The Million Dollar Duck and Herbie Goes Bananas.

His first film credit came as a technical advisor on To Catch a Thief in 1955.

He directed an award-winning episode of the NBC television series In the Heat of the Night in 1991.

He was the brother of directors Joseph and Bernard McEveety. He had a son named Vincent with his wife Mary Ann O'Dell, whom he married in 1956.

He directed Dean Jones in the 1971 Disney comedy The Million Dollar Duck.
