Director and multimedia artist whose 2001 short film Copy Shop was nominated for an Oscar and screened at over 200 film festivals.
He spent his childhood in a Monchsberg house that was over 500 years old.
He became a professor at the University of Applied Arts Vienna.
His parents were Gerheid and Hans Widrich.
He and Oscar-winning director Stefan Ruzowitzky were both natives of Austria.
