Vladimir Nazor

ABOUT VLADIMIR NAZOR

Croatian politician and poet known for his contributions to the Yugoslav national consciousness. He wrote over 500 poems that incorporate a wide range of stylistic tendencies. In politics, he was the first President of the Presidium of the Croatian Parliament and the first Speaker of the Croatian Parliament.

He attended the University of Zagreb and the University of Graz.

His works have been translated into German, Slovenian, Italian, and Hungarian, among other languages. A prize for arts and culture, the Vladimir Nazor Award, was established in his honor. In the early part of his career, he earned notoriety in Croatia by writing about legends and folk stories.

He was born in Postira, Croatia, which was at that time a part of Austria-Hungary.

He was a close associate of Josip Tito .
