Walter Nash

ABOUT WALTER NASH

Gained fame as the 27th Prime Minister of New Zealand from 1957 to 1960. He also served his country as the Minister of Finance and he was notably one of the original members of the Labor Party.

He grew up in a poor family and moved to New Zealand in hopes of better opportunity.

He liked to mix orange juice and gin at receptions. He was criticized for not acting during the 1960 South African rugby tour during Apartheid.

He had four children with his wife Lotty May Eaton.

He protested the policies of the Lyndon B. Johnson administration during the Vietnam War.
