Bandleader, multi-instrumentalist, and core member of the Count Basie Orchestra and of the Blue Devils.

He completed his studies at the University of Kansas at Lawrence in one-third of the anticipated time and went on to play with a series of popular bands.

He played gigs up until his death from pneumonia.

He grew up in Kansas City.

Page's performances with Count Basie were so exceptional that Duke Ellington wanted him for his own band.
