Wande Abimbola

ABOUT WANDE ABIMBOLA

Academic and politician who served as Vice Chancellor of Obafemi Awolowo University and as Nigerian Senate Majority Leader.

He studied history at University College, Ibadan and went on to receive graduate degrees in linguistics and Yoruba Literature from Northwestern University (Evanston, Illinois) and the University of Lagos.

He served as a cultural and traditional affairs adviser to the Nigerian President througout the early 2000s.

He was born in Oyo, Nigeria to a warrior father and a high priestess mother.

He and fellow politician, David Mark , both held important positions in the Nigerian Senate.
