ABOUT WARIS HUSSEIN

Director of the first Doctor Who serial, as well as feature films such as A Touch of Love and Sixth Happiness.

He started as a trainee director with BBC at age 21.

He received a BAFTA award for Edward and Mrs. Simpson and an Emmy Award for the Barry Manilow musical Copacabana.

His parents moved to England when he was 9.

He directed the first incarnation of Doctor Who, which featured William Hartnell as the titular Doctor.
