He earned a bachelor's degree in finance and business administration from Oregon State University in 1984.

He became the majority shareholder of the Premier League soccer club Aston Villa in 2018.

His mother's name is Barbara. He and his wife Lynn have four children.

He purchased the Bucks from entrepreneur and politician Herb Kohl .
