ABOUT WILLIAM FRIEDKIN
Director of the classic 1973 horror film The Exorcist . He earned an Academy Award for his direction of the 1971 movie The French Connection. His final film, The Caine Mutiny Court-Martial, was released posthumously in 2023.
Immediately following high school, he worked for the Chicago television station WGN-TV.
He directed such films as Bug, To Live and Die in L.A., and Rules of Engagement.
He married Jeanne Moreau in 1977, Lesley-Anne Down in 1982, Kelly Lange in 1987, and Sherry Lansing in 1991 up until his death. He had two sons.
He directed Cruising, a 1980 thriller starring Al Pacino .
