Twentieth-century Scottish, neo-Romantic poet whose works include The Seven Journeys and The Nightfishing.
He studied engineering at Stow College before taking literature courses at Newbattle Abbey College.
His poetry was not popular in his own day, but became more widely read in the late twentieth and early twenty-first centuries.
He was married to fellow poet Agnes "Nessie" Dunsmuir.
His work was praised and popularized by playwright Harold Pinter .
