
William Roth
ABOUT WILLIAM ROTH
American politician who was known for serving as the sole representative for the state of Delaware in the House of Representative from 1967 to 1970, and as a U.S. Senator for Delaware from 1971 to 2001. He was a member of the Republican party and a WWII veteran.
He attended the University of Oregon and earned degrees from both Harvard University Business School and Harvard Law School.
During his service in the U.S. Army, he worked in the intelligence field. He was a sponsor for the legislation that created the Roth IRA retirement plan.
He was married to lawyer Jane Richards Roth, and they had two children together.
He and Jack Kemp co-authored the Economic Recovery Tax Act of 1981, which was one of the tax cuts passed under the Reagan administration.
