ABOUT WINSTON GARLAND

Former NBA point guard that played professionally from 1987 until 1995. He was originally drafted by the Milwaukee Bucks as a second round pick in 1987. During his NBA career, he played for the Golden State Warriors , Los Angeles Clippers , Denver Nuggets , Houston Rockets and Minnesota Timberwolves .

He initially began his collegiate basketball career at Southeastern Community College. After two seasons, he then transferred to Missouri State University . In high school, he was part of a team that played for the Indiana State Championship, but lost to a squad that also featured future NBA player Scott Skiles .

He played in exactly 511 games during his eight year NBA career. Over that eight year span, he scored 4,799 points and 2,421 assists. Following his playing career, he became a high school basketball coach in Gary, Indiana.

Growing up, he lived with his family in Gary, Indiana. His son, Darius Garland , was drafted by the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2019.

He played alongside Chris Mullin as a member of the Warriors during his NBA career.
