ABOUT ZACHARIAS KUNUK
Canadian Inuk producer and director of the film Atanarjuat: The Fast Runner and co-founder of Igloolik Isuma Productions.
He carved and sold soapstone sculptures to be able to afford to go to movies as a child.
His 2001 film Atanarjuat: The Fast Runner was the first Canadian dramatic feature film produced entirely in the Inuktitut language.
His father was Enoki Kunuk, a hunter who was once lost for 27 days in the Arctic tundra.
He developed a love of movies while watching John Wayne films as a kid.
