ABOUT ZHANG RUIFANG
Highly esteemed stage and film actress. She is best known for her roles in On Songhua River and Li Shuangshuang. She went on to complete ten more films before retiring in 1982.
She studied Western painting at Beiping's National Arts School. After graduating in 1935, she joined the Chinese Drama Society and began acting on stage.
In 2000, she founded a retirement home for 40 people. She rejected capitalism and made no profit from the venture.
She was born in Hebei, China. In 1943, she married Jin Shan, a spy for the Chinese Communist Party.
Ingrid Bergman was her role model and the basis of her own professional persona.
