Like her sister, she is a musician and has become a skilled drummer.

Her father is a Cuban reggae musician and her mother is a Jamaican nutritionist and yoga instructor. In addition to Herizen, she has another sister named Jaia.

Her sister appeared on Netflix's The Get Down alongside Jaden Smith and Justice Smith .
